Muay Thai

What is Muay Thai?

Muay Thai or Thai boxing is a martial discipline and combat sport originating from Thailand. It is also known as the "art of eight limbs" referring to the eight points of contact from fists, kicks, knees, and elbows.

What is a Muay Thai class like?

Muay Thai classes always begin with a warm-up involving skipping, static and dynamic stretching, core and full body exercises. After the warm-up, there are instructor-led drills for fundamentals which include stance, movement/footwork and rhythm and proper technique when using punches, kicks, elbows, and knees. There will also be partner drills using kick pads. More intermediate/advanced students will focus more on striking combinations, fakes/feints, clinch work, dumps, sweeps and interactive partner drills. Muay Thai is a form of high-intensity interval training. Please let the instructor know if you have any physical limitations or disabilities and please do not hesitate to let the instructor know if you need to take a break during the class at anytime.
