What is a Muay Thai class like?
Muay Thai classes always begin with a warm-up involving skipping, static and dynamic stretching, core and full body exercises. After the warm-up, there are instructor-led drills for fundamentals which include stance, movement/footwork and rhythm and proper technique when using punches, kicks, elbows, and knees. There will also be partner drills using kick pads. More intermediate/advanced students will focus more on striking combinations, fakes/feints, clinch work, dumps, sweeps and interactive partner drills. Muay Thai is a form of high-intensity interval training.
